ROUND 1
Our Manawatu Wanganui Juniors fronted up against a strong side from the Hawkes Bay on Day One of the regional Quadrangular Competition.
In the Shand Salver, Manawatu Wanganui came off second best with a 3.5 - 0.5 loss, with Sera Raj at Number 1 bringing in a well earned Half in her match.
For the Pelorus Cup, one of MGCs own, Ryan Bremner, showcased his home field advantage with a dominant 5&4 victory with brother Liam coming undone to go down by just 1 on the last hole. Further wins to Manawatu Wanganuis Jack Clark and Ryan Block didn't quite gain the momentum for the side, being defeated 7 - 3.
ROUND 2 & 3
In the morning round against Taranaki, our own Ryan Bremner again asserted himself command of his match coming in with a win 6&5. With further wins amongst the team from Zara Lynch and Kaleb Fagan with a couple Halves from Hector Macbeth and Jack Clark, the Manawatu Wanganui side missed out narrowly with a 6 - 4 loss.
In the Shand Salver, it was Number 1 Sera Raj who claimed the sole point for the hosts however with a deficit 3 - 1.
The afternoons 18 holes against Wellington was a true grit battle, with the scoreline not quite reflecting how tight this matchup was with MGCs Liam Bremner along with Kaleb Fagan and Hector Macbeth returning all square with the lone victory point coming from William Grieve to bookend the competition by 7.5 - 2.5 with the Shand Salver side also being vanquished.
