MGC 2022 Wrap up

Saturday was our last official club day of the 2022 programme which was a smaller field as we yet again had traveling members playing at the Buckley Golf Club Christmas Cheer along with our Summer weather dealing us another bad hand with more rain overhead

Seeing out the year was the Final of our McDonald Mugs Competition, which was delayed due to our winter closure.
Played out between Stu Duncan / Phil Simpson & Nigel Belsham / Stu Amor, our battlers donned their wet weathers in attempt to nab one last bit of silverware for the season

Starting out all square with 1 'Stu' a piece, it was Stu and Phil who got ahead early, starting well with them seeing a birdie drop on the par 5 4th hole to notch a 3 hole lead.
Nigel and Stu fought back as the rain really set in, managing to get back to square at the turn as they set out into the back nine with the looming lengthy track ahead.
The match was very much alive with the lead going either way through the next few holes but a change in the winds occurred and after a birdie on the short par 4 15th for Nigel and Stu, they were 1up as they stood on the par 3 17th tee.
With many matches this year being decided on the 17th, and after witnessing their opponents strike their tees to the green, Stu and Phil knew this next one was important 
With 2 more strokes and 2 birdies recorded on the cards, Nigel and Stu sealed their victory in style 

This years McDonald Mugs Champions who will get to etch their names on the tankards for 2022 are Nigel Belsham & Stu Amor!

In the Saturday Club competition, the last comp was Par in tough conditions but seeing out an impressive season of results was Varina Mitchell with +1! Well Done V !
