Presidents taste defeat at Taihape

The Marton Presidents Team took a new look side up to the fortress of Taihape Golf Club on Sunday.

With ailments and absences, 2 new members were drafted in late for their debuts within the team with another Bremner joining the ranks in the form of youngster Jayme and even the Media Man himself had to come out from behind the desk to play.

Playing the course blind, our new #7 and #8 got the team underway with Jayme & Tom holding their own for a long period of their matches, succumbing to some flashes of brilliance from their opponents late in the game and both going down 3&2 and 4&3 respectively

Promising signs from Glenn and Dick followed, with a win in the 4Ball and Dick beating his counterpart Danny Mickleson 3&2 who may have still been suffering some PTSD from his last Marton Matchup.

Ryan played true to form, holding steady but unfortunately ended up 2 Down with partner Colin just going for a walk in the hills as his opponent shot a 73 which was actually impressive to see for all. Well done Wi

Team Captain Stu led by example with a 3&2 victory in the singles but the 4Ball and Troy's single match went the other way.

Final Result a 9 - 3 Loss.
Always a difficult encounter with a strong Taihape side on their own field, however we were received well with good company and it was a pleasure to revisit.

That leaves MGC having slid down the table a few spots, but still within the Top 8 as they head into Round 4 which is back local at Rangitikei on April 16th.
